OBSTACLE

Deep structural dependence on fossil fuels slows down progress

Fossil fuels are deeply embedded in the way most of us live, and it will take a lot to end this relationship.
We need a structural transformation of the energy system, which is traditionally dependent on fossil fuels. A secure and rapid expansion of renewable energy requires a speedy construction of renewable infrastructures and the participation of many skilled actors.
Despite promises of transformation, we’ve spent millions of dollars on high-emission infrastructure since the Paris Agreement was signed.
